Photography Challenge - Let Them Be Little

The I Heart Faces photo challenge this week is titled, "Let Them Be Little", and I thought what better picture to enter than the one I took of Rebekah and her friends, Lillian (left) and Libby (right), last Saturday while we were touring around the University of Virginia. I mean, there comes a day when people outgrow the stick your tongue out for the picture look and it just becomes weird instead of cute. To check out the other entires you can click the button below or this link.

Also, I'm working on some posts for all of you family and friends who have patiently waited while we were traveling to VA to visit our friends. Blog post on the pumpkin patch and our trip should be coming soon.

********** Update/helpful tip - Procrastination gets you no where! While trying to upload my entry to the website I realized that I missed the deadline by 37 minutes. I thought I had until 12midnight but the entry time closed at 9pm CST. There's still some great pics on the website that are totally worth checking out. The winners will be posted later this week.

Photo Challenge - Best Face Photo from Summer 2011

The photography website, I Heart Faces, is hosting it's weekly photo challenge with this weeks theme being "Best Face Photo from Summer 2011". Since I happen to LOVE this face and this little girl I thought it would be the best entry. This was taken on our last family trip of the summer to Blackacre Preserve and is one of my top favorite pictures of this Summer!

It was a session of Ansley, who turned 1, and a few with her momma who is expecting baby 2!

I've entered it into a Rock the Shot photo contest of Silhouettes. You can check it out going to www.rocktheshotforum.com or check them out on Facebook!

Stayed tuned for more family and photography updates soon!

Photo Challenge - Motherhood

This week the photo challenge at I Heart Faces is titled Motherhood and instead of submitting a picture of me and Rebekah I decided I would submit a picture of one of the "little mamas" in my life, Rebekah's friend Libby.

Since Rebekah has turned two years old I have noticed how she catches on to everything so quickly. Every other Tuesday when Libby is at our house she and Rebekah play with their baby dolls. They carry them in the car seat, they rock them, hug them, and give them kisses. Why do they do these things? Because they see their mamas doing it. What a great encouragement to be mindful of how I act around and toward Rebekah (and other children)! I should be exuding the Fruit of the Spirit, I should be speaking scripture to her, and encouraging her to love God and hate sin. She is looking to me to show her how to be a good wife, mother, friend, and child of God and it is my duty to teach her the way that she should go

So, today's submission is of Libby being a good little mama to her baby because her mother, my dear friend Laurel, is so kind and loving toward her .

Photo Challenge - Soft & Sweet

The photo challenge this week at I Heart Faces is titled "Soft & Sweet".

Can it get any sweeter than this?

I want to just drink up the love in this picture between father and daughter. There's something so sweet about their smiles and the lighting was just perfect for this type of editing.

So there you have it. You can check out the other entries by clicking the I Heart Faces button below if you're interested.

Weekly Photo Challenge

I Heart Faces is a great photography resource and it also hosts a weekly photo challenge. I've been wanting to do a challenge for a while now, because to me, weekly photo challenges are like getting the homework from a photography class without paying for the class (although I would love to take a real photography class one day), which I love! The rules are that the picture has to have a human face (unless specified otherwise) and it has to fit into the category given for the week. This week the category is "Wind" and this is my entry:

This is a picture I took of Rebekah standing last year on July 4th. She's standing on an old column that was part of a house that burned down long ago in Bluffton, SC. I love this picture for many reasons. I love her crazy hair blowing in the coastal breeze, her tiny Georgia Bulldogs T-shirt, and her daddy's hands at the bottom, ready to catch her and keeping her safe (she, of course, was fearless though!).

So, there you have it folks... My very first photo challenge!
